City of Portland Gets an Acupuncture Treatment: Public Arts Project

Here's something wild and crazy: the City of Portland is getting an acupuncture treatment through a new public arts project. The project hopes using mammoth acupuncture
"Needles appearing across the city will bring attention to the some of the city's most challenging problems, greatest assets, as well as places with enormous potential.

Using the body as a metaphor for the entire city, Kuby hopes to identify those places in the landscape that are important to us as a community, drawing attention not only to the significance of each focal point but also to the interconnectedness of them to each other as well as to ourselves.”

  1. Wow! This is marvelous.

As an acupuncturist, this makes me want to know more about the whole "treatment plan" -- are there also sites which are bringing strength, i.e. tonifying?

Whoever has more information, please let us know.

  2. this is an interesting point: tonification sites. if one looks at the earth as a macrocosm of the human body, there are certain energetic and spiritual centers in the earth. san diego, new york and asheville are a few. they attract people (hence cities). they say the quartz in the mountains around asheville increases the energetics of the area. this certainly is a spiritual center: all spiritual traditions are drawn to and represented here.

i noticed immediately upon moving here from san diego that i couldn't do heavy stimulation on the acupuncture needles: patients were jumping off the table. neither my needle technique nor type of needle had changed. i've always believed its the energetics of the area. i use light to no stim and get effective treatments. no da qi.
